Official MSP in ₹ per quintal for the rabi crops being sown now (Oct–Dec 2026) and bought from spring 2027 — announced by the Cabinet on 30 September 2026.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Rabi Marketing Season 2027-28 on 30 September 2026. These apply to the wheat, mustard, chana and other rabi crops farmers are sowing now, when the government buys them from about March–April 2027.
Rabi MSP 2027-28 — all six crops
- Wheat: ₹2,610 per quintal (2026-27: ₹2,585, +₹25; 106% over cost)
- Barley: ₹2,286 per quintal (2026-27: ₹2,150, +₹136; 58% over cost)
- Gram (Chana): ₹5,958 per quintal (2026-27: ₹5,875, +₹83; 59% over cost)
- Lentil (Masur): ₹7,390 per quintal (2026-27: ₹7,000, +₹390; 92% over cost)
- Rapeseed & Mustard: ₹6,613 per quintal (2026-27: ₹6,200, +₹413; 96% over cost)
- Safflower: ₹7,215 per quintal (2026-27: ₹6,540, +₹675; 50% over cost)
What changed
- Wheat goes up only ₹25, to ₹2,610 per quintal — the smallest rise of the six crops.
- Safflower gets the biggest rise (+₹675), then mustard (+₹413) and masur (+₹390): oilseeds and pulses got larger increases than cereals.
- Every MSP is at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production, the rule followed since the 2018-19 Budget. Wheat's margin over cost is the highest, at 106%.
When you can sell at this MSP
- Wheat bought in spring 2027 gets ₹2,610. Wheat sold before then is still Rabi 2026-27, at ₹2,585.
- Register on your state's procurement portal first — states usually open registration between January and March. The Sarkari Paisa Calendar lists the portals.
- MSP is paid only at government purchase centres, for produce that meets quality norms such as moisture limits. Ordinary mandi auctions can pay more or less on any day.
