Mandi rules differ by state. The limits used here (commission: grain 2%, vegetables/fruit 4%) come from the central Model mandi law of 2017. This is not legal advice — confirm your state's rule with the mandi secretary. Limit for the crop type picked: 2%.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check if my mandi slip (parchi) is correct?
Multiply the weight after any cut by the rate to get the sale value, then subtract each deduction (commission, mandi fee, hammali, weighing). The result is what you should receive. The TaazaBhav Mandi Hisab Checker does this and flags short weight, extra cuts, high commission and wrong totals.
Is dhalta or karda (kg cut per quintal) allowed in the mandi?
A flat kg cut with no reason is not allowed in most mandis. A moisture or quality cut should be written on the slip with the moisture reading. Ask the mandi secretary for your state's rule.
How much commission (arhat) can a commission agent take?
The central Model APLM Act 2017 caps commission at 2% for grains and other non-perishables and 4% for fruit and vegetables. In many states the buyer pays the commission, not the farmer. State rules differ, so confirm with your mandi secretary.
Who pays the mandi fee — farmer or trader?
Mandi (market) fee is usually paid by the buyer. If it was taken from you, ask for the official mandi receipt.
When must a farmer be paid after selling in the mandi?
Mandi rules in most states require payment on the day of sale or the next day. Complain to the mandi secretary if payment is late.
